Seven

T oday was Tuesday, the seventh day. The plan: meet at FEG at 8:00, then take the train downtown and do a scavenger hunt. Sound familiar? It was basically the same thing we did on Saturday, except this was with only the American GAPPers and the questions were in English.

We arrived, and because all the questions were the same, Frau was letting groups go every ten minutes. I'm glad I was in the first group to go, because there were seven groups. We started off in the wrong direction, but finally found our way around. It was actually a cool activity. There are a lot of really cool buildings in Hamburg and some of the bridges go back to the 1200s. It took us a couple of hours to walk across the downtown, and we ended up at the "Hafen" district of Hamburg, which is basically an entirely new city that is in the process of being built. A lot of new architecture. Their new opera hall is in that project. You should google it- it's a cool idea. They're using an old warehouse as the foundation and building a giant glass growth off the top.

Our group got back first, and got the best prize. That's interesting, because we were the first to go. It seems like sombody on the other end didn't get the message. We ate lunch at a little cafe overlooking all the new construction, and then walked back through the warehouse district to the U-Bahn, which we took to the shopping district.

It was like any other large city's shopping area. There were two big malls, and a whole bunch of shops. I got "The Return of the King" in German at a bookstore, and then we went to one of the coolest electronics stores I've ever been in. Imagine a Best-Buy sized store with four floors of that best-buy size. Here I bought a copy of Firefly in German. We'll have to figure out how to change the region on our DVD player.

We were all very tired when we got back, so I chilled on the computer for about an hour while Max slept. We then picked up Mia and Angie and went to a movie. The title was "something Las Vegas" and it was HORRIBLE. One of the worst I've ever seen, but I did understand everything in German.

Afterwards I just went to sleep. Three hours of walking was a bit much.

Bis Morgen,
Robert

Firefly auf Deutsch?! Nice. I got Apocalypse Now there for 1 euro, and still need to watch it.

I'm watching Serenity as we speak -- but in English. I LOVE Firefly. I think that Las Vegas movie was terrible in every language. . .
