Six

Today was a Monday- wonderful. We had been up till about midnight watching, so waking up at 6:15 was a bit hard. We then went to school, however, the American GAPPers went on a tour of Harburg, the "Vorort" of Hamburg that we live in/our school is in. The tour wasn't too great, because I had been through the night before and Max had pointed some things out. We did see some Jewish graveyards, the old FEG, and a couple of cool sights in the downtown Harburg area. I'll have pictures when that's working.
We walked for at least three hours (!) at the end of which everyone was extremely tired. We may or may not actually know the area better, however, we're here to see things, so I won't complain about anything we have to do. I believe in trying everything once (see tomorrow for more on this). After the tour, we looked around in the marketplace and then went to an outdoor shopping mall type of place. Me and a group of people went to a Balzac coffee, which is like Starbucks here. The whole group then walked through the Technical University on the way back to FEG.

Once there, we ate lunch, which was some kind of pasta-like substance. It wasn't horrible, but far from good. Then we practiced our dance. Twice. I was nearly asleep at the time, so I don't remember, but I think it went well. I just have to work with Coyle now on our music for the talent show.

Then we went to music class. The class split into groups to practice their parts. They were working on Beatles songs, so there were singers, a piano, guitars, and drums. They couldn't find/didn't want to find a violin for me, so I sat around and took pictures. I also looked at their sound stuff- a little Yahama 16 channel powered mixer was sitting out on a table (one of the monitor faders was missing and the post was bent over) and they had some more in a cabinet. This is starting to be Sound Equipment Tour Germany.

Afterwards we went home for a while, and then in the City. It was nearing sunset, and the city of Hamburg was beautiful. I didn't bring my camera, but that's OK. We wandered around on the edge of a little lake/river (there were a lot of kyakers and people sailing) and then we went through the embassy district- one of the richest areas of Hamburg. I had a great ice cream, and then we took the train back home, arriving around 10:00.

It was a wonderful day,
Robert

Sounds like a great day!

The sleepiness thing is the 2nd phase of jet lag. After you sleep tonight you should feel better for the rest of trip.

How is the German speaking going?

Good blog Bob. Also, one of those speedos for me too? Should be the same 33 inch waist and I'll pay you back.

The world just got scarier.

If Seiler asks for a Speedo too, I'm moving to France. Wait, that won't help me.
Sounds like you are having a great time! Mom

I remember when everyone wore Speedos. . .but then, I was wearing a bikini -- and that's always an option, rather than moving to France. Isn't France famous for places where they DON'T wear Speedos? You'd better move to Ireland.

I'm loving your blog, Robert, and I'm glad you had such a terrific day. I can't wait to see the pictures, but you've done a great job of describing the places you've been. Looking forward to tomorrow. . . Aunt Amy
